POP (Post Office Protocol) is a way to get Yahoo Mail in a desktop or mobile application. POP downloads copies of your email, so you can move and delete them in the application without affecting the original emails.

Configuration instructions and POP information
Here are links to common configuration instructions. If a problem arises, you should contact the application manufacturer for additional help.
How are POP and IMAP different?
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a newer protocol that allows you to access and manage your email remotely. What you do in the application affects the email on the email server.
POP (Post Office Protocol) is an earlier protocol that copies emails from the email server to the application. The actions performed in the application do not affect the email on the email server.
Discontinue POP access
To interrupt POP access, delete the POP settings of your Yahoo Mail account from the application you are using. You do not need to make any changes to your Yahoo mail account.
