Set up, use and manage the Yahoo account key to login without a password
Tired of remembering and managing multiple passwords? The account password is more secure and allows you to use your mobile phone instead of a password to log in. Once enabled, Yahoo sends a notification to the mobile device of your choice. You can approve access with a tap on your phone so that no one else can access your account.

Configure the account key from a web browser
You must have at least one Yahoo application installed on your mobile device and be logged in to it.
- Go to the security page of the Yahoo account.
- Click or tap See how it works.
- Select your device and application to be notified.
- Click or tap Send me a notification. -> A notification will go to the application you selected.
- On your mobile device, touch the Approve icon Image of the accept account key button.
- Back in your web browser, click or tap Always use the Yahoo account key.
- Confirm your mobile phone number, which is used if you lose access to your device.
Login with account key
For the account key to work, you must log in to a Yahoo application on your mobile device.
- Go to the Yahoo login page.
- Enter your Yahoo ID, then click Next ->> A notification is sent to your enabled device with account key.
- On your device, touch the notification or open the application and touch the Account Password icon Image of the Account Password icon.
- Tap the Approve icon Image of the accept account key button.
- You may be asked to enter or touch a verification code to confirm.
Disable account key or manage devices
You can deactivate the Account Key and return to a password if you prefer. Or, if you are using multiple Yahoo devices and applications, you can change where the notification is sent.
Disable a web browser account key
- Go to the security page of the Yahoo account.
- For "Yahoo Account Key", click on Manage.
- Click Disable account key at the bottom of the screen to return to a password.
- Optionally, click on the switch to the right of any device you wish to enable or disable.
Deactivate the account key of a Yahoo mobile application
From your application enabled with the Account Key, touch the Image Menu icon from the side menu icon.
- Tap the Account Password icon Image of the Account Password icon.
- Press Manage account key.
- Touch Disable account key at the bottom of the screen to return to a password.
- Optionally, tap the switch to the right of any device you wish to enable or disable.
