Although Google Chrome is the most popular web browser but doesn’t mean that it is 100% bug-free.  However, Chrome is a very stable, fast and reliable browser. Sometimes it won’t respond, preventing users from connecting to the Internet.

Actually, Google Chrome may be unable to open for several reasons, including a malware infection or conflicting software installed on your computer. Usually, firewall and antivirus software help protect your computer, thus you have to set these programs to block certain types of Internet connections. Way 1 - Clear all catches & cookies

 

1.   First of all, open Chrome.

2.   Then, on the top right, click on the three vertical dots button > More tools > clear browsing data.

3.   Next, in the drop-down menu, click to select the time range for the data cache clearing.

4.   Later, click on ‘CLEAR DATA.’

Now, you can run Chrome and hopefully the freezing problem has been sorted.

 

Way 2 - Turn-off Chrome adds –on

Although add-ons are extensions to Chrome that permits you to do more things in your browser, or which improve your user experience such as the AdBlock add-on blocks ads also. Might be some extensions are added manually and sometimes added by other programs on your computer with your permission. In case, if you have too many add-ons, then they can overload your browser and cause Google Chrome not responding issue.

·         Firstly, open the browser.

·         Then you have to click on three buttons on-screen >More tools> Extensions.

·         Next, toggle off all the extensions on your Google Chrome.

Way 3 - Update your drivers

This will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it.

Way 4 - Permit Google Chrome via Windows Defender Firewall

Generally sometimes the denied access to the Internet is another culprit for our Chrome locked up problem and for allowing Chrome by Windows Defender Firewall, move forward with these steps:-

1.   Firstly, you have to hit the Windows logo key and R at the same time on the keyboard.

2.   Thereafter, copy & paste control firewall.cpl into the box then click on ‘OK.’

3.   Next, click on ‘Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.’

4.   Now, Click on ‘Change settings’.

5.   Further, ensure that the 4 boxes for Google Chrome are ALL ticked and then click on ‘OK.’

6.   In the last, launch Google Chrome and check if the Google Chrome not responding issue has been fixed.  In case the response is ‘yes’, then it would be great!

Way 5 - Update and reinstall Chrome

1.   First of all, open Chrome.

2.   Then click on the three vertical dots button > help > About Google Chrome.

3.   Further Google Chrome automatically detects if there’s an update available automatically. When it is yes, follow the on-screen instruction to finish the update. While, no, delete Chrome and re-install it on the Windows store or another trustworthy third-party website.  Make it noted that it will erase your Chrome browser settings and data.
